The internet as a social entity

Today was a course overview. We were introduced to the course and went over some of the key themes of the course. We also looked at the way the course was to be assesed and now we are setting up our own blogs which we will use for part of our assessment. I found it interesting looking at the history of the internet and seeing how much the technology has developed since 1969. Learning about Arpanet and the develpoment of the internet in the early stages was all new to me. When looking at the what has become of the internet since 1969 it is amazing to think that one thing can have such an effect on so many different people in so many different ways. The internet is used for social, business, educational etc etc. The internet is being used for so many purposes around the world and it is interesting learning about the different stages of its development. The simple things we do in our everyday lives have even been effected by the internet, for example the monthly chore of paying the phoone and power bill can now be done in 5 minutes with the use of online banking. This is just one example of many.. I’m interested to see what the future will hold for the internet…
